Shelf Magazine first issue is TODAY!!

Shelf Unbound, the literary magazine I am the kid contributor for, is printing releasing their digital magazine TODAY! The cool thing about the iPad is that a lot of magazines are now on the iPad. So, instead of going to the bookstore and buying a copy (gas, time, wasting paper) you can download an issue RIGHT NOW and ta-da!~ presto: you can start reading. I really want to read about the creepy doll in the photo above. Really. Yeah, I’m not really into skateboarding, but the photos are neat. I do like the ice cream photo and story (it it [ ... ]

real artist uses iPad instead of canvas and easle- no way? way.

When I read about this dude who makes serious art on his ipad i thought, Why? I mean, he studied for years to be an artists and now his work is so one dimentional. But, like all graphic art- it is one dimentional. His is just done by finger and not a mouse, right? Here is excerpt from the article in Daily Mail: David Hockney, one of Britain’s most influential artists, has taken to creating artworks with the new Apple iPad (left) and the iPhone (right) Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1291207/Apple-iPad-art-Artist-uses-gadget-create-modern-finger-paintings.html#ixzz0wAbCz8xK They combine the bright vivid colours of photography with [ ... ]

iPad owners selfish elites? Critics independent geeks?? I think not.

“MyType, a personality-typing application for Facebook users, surveyed over 20,000 people about Apple’s iPad to reveal the personality traits, values, demographics and interests that drive differences in opinion about the new tablet computer. Of the five distinct opinion segments that emerged, two had the most striking profiles: the owners and the critics. iPad owners are  best characterized as selfish elites. Wealthier, older, and more educated, there are sophisticated, highly value power and achievement, and are not very kind or altruistic. iPad Critics, on the other hand, tend to be independent geeks: self-directed young people who look down on conformity and [ ... ]

Aesop’s Fables: You will be amazed – REALLY Amazed.

Aesop’s Fables are a set of 20 stories all kids should have. This app is $8.99 and worth every single shiny penny. There is a spinning wheel that lets the kid interact with the tales. It has a spot the difference game gets unlocked as the kids read it. Oh, and this part is really cool: the parent can record their own voice so the story if told by the parent. This is neat if a Mom or Dad is going away for a business trip (or IRAQ) and the kid can hear their parent reading to them every night. [ ... ]

Funny Story – One time at work…

(No really this is a true story haha) I work at this little tiny publishing company with maybe five full-time workers and four interns. (I’m an intern) And we don’t have that many computers. Eight, actually. And one of the full-time employees actually works from home, but she sometimes uses one of the computers in the office remotely but not a lot lately. And there are usually one or two of the interns doing shipping, so they don’t need a computer. Well yesterday everyone needed a computer. Including the employee that works from home. So she was using the [ ... ]

Super Flashy Expensive Technology That is -not- worth your money

So I’m pretty much sure we can all agree that technology is awesome. Gotta love it. They make some amazing things with technology. But there are always people who will take it too far, like there is with everything. And usually those things that get taken too far are the super flashy expensive things. Some of these super expensive things actually can be used, but most of them are for show. So with no further ado, I present you with my list of top 8 ridiculously expensive (and just plain ridiculous, really) technology. 8. Diamond Earbuds Starting at just $6,400 (and [ ... ]

Violet – new iPad book for kids – Interactive

“The iPad Kids gives it two thumbs up. Plus we want some of the blueberry pie, please.” The girl in it is trying to make her life interesting. She makes time go backwards one hour. The next day she sees that the extra hour of time has made her family happy because they were able to do more in the morning with the extra hour, like study or bake a pie. I like pie! The drawings are the best part. And the dog that is on pages- you have to kinda search for him like a treasure hunt- it is [ ... ]
