StoryChimes – iPadKids double review!!

Yeah… so I realize that I didn’t do a post yesterday… but I had a LOT of homework. I mean, it’s the first day, you’d think that they would go easy on us but noooo. I don’t know what I was thinking when I signed up for AP Stats and AP Calculus… Anyway, that doesn’t matter right now. I figured to make up for it, I could do a double review of two StoryChimes books. The two I’m reviewing are Three Little Pigs and The Princess and the Pea. They have 28 books available in the app store, all added up. [ ... ]

iPad Book – The Grouchies

This is a cute book for little kids who are grouchy and grumpy and don’t want to be nice.  The book itself is cute, but rather than getting to turn pages and stuff, you just kind of slide them, not really turn them. And it works, I guess, but I am really a fan of the page-turning. That’s okay though. The story is about a little boy who wakes up with the grouchies. (The mean little storm clouds with frowny faces) and they tell him “Grouch and grump at everyone you meat throughout the day. Don’t be nice to anyone [ ... ]

Toy Story Read-Along: LOVE IT

Ahhhh…. Disney. I love Disney classics! (Although I do have to say… Phineas and Ferb=awesome ;D) I can still remember being a tiny little girl and crying at Toy Story, and even though I haven’t seen it yet, I’ve heard that I’ll probably be a big girl crying at Toy Story 3. So when I saw that Disney had made a Toy Story read-along that was free… well, who could resist it? I love this book, the drawings don’t look like the original movie, they’re more pastel-ish than cartoon-ish, but I really really like them. They’re beautiful. And they have [ ... ]

Aesop’s Fables: You will be amazed – REALLY Amazed.

Aesop’s Fables are a set of 20 stories all kids should have. This app is $8.99 and worth every single shiny penny. There is a spinning wheel that lets the kid interact with the tales. It has a spot the difference game gets unlocked as the kids read it. Oh, and this part is really cool: the parent can record their own voice so the story if told by the parent. This is neat if a Mom or Dad is going away for a business trip (or IRAQ) and the kid can hear their parent reading to them every night. [ ... ]

Priest uses an iPad to deliver mass

The iPad has a lot of great uses, but to be honest, this wasn’t one of the ones that popped into my head right away. Well, the Vatican didn’t seem to have anything negative to say about it. So, why not? In Italy, this Catholic priest (Don Michele Bigi) used the iPad to say mass at a summer camp instead of the big, heavy book version of the Roman Missal. He used a PDF to read the Bible during an outside mass. When interviewed, the priest said that the iPad was “really easy to use.” It’s definitely a lot lighter, and [ ... ]

ABC quirky little kid book for iPad

ABC by Paul McDougall is a quirky little iPad app book that has the alphabet with kooky characters featured. Very simple, you flip the pages and the alphabet letters go from A-Z. What is nice is there are mod cartoon creatures and the Letter descriptions are original. The whole book feels fresh. Nice job, Mr. Paul. Psst: He is the developer dude! I like the N is for Nelson, whose nickname is noodles. He even made my 9 year old brother crack up giggling. “Finally, an alphabet book that doesn’t start with A is for Apple. This ABC book is [ ... ]

Violet – new iPad book for kids – Interactive

“The iPad Kids gives it two thumbs up. Plus we want some of the blueberry pie, please.” The girl in it is trying to make her life interesting. She makes time go backwards one hour. The next day she sees that the extra hour of time has made her family happy because they were able to do more in the morning with the extra hour, like study or bake a pie. I like pie! The drawings are the best part. And the dog that is on pages- you have to kinda search for him like a treasure hunt- it is [ ... ]

Reading Twilight on the iPad – the movie was bad. But the book?

Just recently a  friend told me to read the Twilight series. I had seen the movie, we all had, and im sorry to say that I hated it. Sorry Mr. Director who directed the Twilight movie, It was bad. SO when my friend, Madison, told me to read the Twilight series, my fist thought in my head was, “no”. I was not going to spend my reading hours on a book that i didn’t like. Madison then told me that at first she had hated the movie also, but then she read the book and that she likes it now. SO  i [ ... ]
